Restoration 002 | Video | Joint Recording with Ginia
[The feed starts with Evan crouched in front of the journal, face taking up much of the image. He makes a-ha before moving back a bit. Beyond his torso the image is a slightly crooked view of what looks some sort of concert hall. Before too many details can be seen Evan tsks and blocks the view again, fiddling with the journal. Finally satisfied he backs up, checks that the journal is straight, and beams before turning and walking coat tails swishing, left sleeve pinned to his shoulder.
Now everyone watching can see that it IS some sort of concert hall, and look there’s Ginia seated at a grand Piano that Evan walks towards. He waves at Ginia before reaching off screen and bringing in a fedora with a big feather sticking out. Not allowing her to argue he plops it down on her head, before moving around the body of the piano. He leans against it, grinning mischievously at Ginia who gives him the flattest stare even as her lips twitch into the flash of a grin. Evan winks before straightening up and facing the journal. He clears his throat as Ginia spreads her fingers over the piano keys, both of them still for a timeless moment before Evan starts to sing and Ginia enters on the piano for the first song.
As with any good Queen Classic, Evan rocks out to the song with a multitude of hand flourishes and hips swaying to the tune, grinning as much as he can without interfering with his singing. As the song ends he trails off to inaudibility, pulling his legs and arm in close as Ginia shifts key with a little flourish before setting off into the second song.
Evan looks up as he starts to sing, before going big, gesticulating widely and playing out all the parts as they came up. Hamming it up all the way, dancing along with the music. Anyone who knows the Time Warp will recognize those moves. He even puts on voices to do the different parts as it goes along. At the right time Evan busts out improvised tap dancing, before throwing himself back into the music.
When that finishes, Evans grins widely at the camera as his breathing slows.]
Greetings Lucetians!
Most of you don’t know me yet, I am recently arrived Evan Brown. I hope to change all and my good friend Ginia - wave to all the nice people Ginia thank you - has given me a chance! Well, a bit of chance. Turns out this idea had been stewing awhile, but I have no qualms taking advantage of it at all.
So, my good citizens, we have made this delightfully musical broadcast to invite all of you, yes all of you to a day at the movies.
This Saturday, all of Saturday, we will be screening movies at the Rec center! My good friend Ginia has quite the selection on her laptop, and we already have a few lined up. We will also be raiding the rec centers collections for other title. If you have a movie you own and want us to screen, feel free to bring it! We are also taking movie suggestions, but ask that we keep it appropriate for all ages.
Foods and drinks will be provided, but if you have that favorite snack you simply cannot watch movies without it’s probably best to bring it yourself, as we won’t be taking request on the food. It’s also BYOB, or Bring your own Booze, if that is your thirst quencher of choice.
We will be fielding all requests, comment, questions and other inquires at this time. Movie requests may continue even through Saturday, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Especially me, I’d love to meet some new faces, and to better get to know those I’ve met already!
[Evan grins at the camera, and starts to turn towards Ginia to lead them out with the final song choices. However a flash of pure mischief crosses his face before he straightens and looks solemnly at the journal.
Ginia blinks in confusion, hands pausing over the keys, wondering if Evan thought of something to add.
Then Evan starts to speaking in an eerie sing song:]
theres no earthly way of knowing
which direction we are going
there's no knowing where we're rowing
or which way the rivers flowing
is it raining is it snowing
is a hurricane a blowing
[Ginia throws a pen that had been sitting on the piano hard at Evan’s face. It bounces off leaving a black smear, but Evan barely blinks as he continues growing louder:]
not a speck of light is showing
so the danger must be growing
are the fires of hell a’glowing
is the grisly reaper mowing
[ Evan gets even louder, an edge of faux panic in his voice as Ginia stands from the piano in exasperation-]
yes the danger must be growing
for the rowers keep on rowing
and they're certainly not showing
any signs that they are slowing
[Just as Evan opens his mouth for the eerie scream Ginia smacks him on the back of the head, hard. His jaw clicks shut and he giggles as Ginia signs quickly at him, berating him, even as she can’t quite hide a grin.
Evan smiles widely and raises his hand to make a placating gesture. Ginia points a finger under his nose and shakes it just once before throwing up her arms and sighing. She returns to the piano, feather bouncing jauntily tucked in the hat band, an amused smile on her lips even as she sets her hands back to ivory. Evan straightens and turns his head to nod at her, a small smile on his lips. She begins with the delicate beginning of Pure Imagination. It’s a straightforward piece and Evan simply sways as he sings.
As he trails off the song changes one final time, quietly slipping into the final tune of the broadcast, Stars. Evan closes his eyes as he sings this time, something nearly fragile in his expression even as he sings the powerful tune.
Both the piano and his voice stop as he ends the song. Evan opens his eyes, grins and takes an elaborate bow, before gesturing to Ginia and making her stand and bow as well. Still grinning he walks forward and turns off the feed.]
((ooc notes: In the replies please specify who you are talking to, or if it’s addressed to both. There won’t be comment thread section dedicated to movie recommends, so just toss it in with your reply as both Evan and Ginia will be taking the recommends.))

Okay, here's a stretch, but do you think you have Hana-bi?
[ He sure doesn't, but for some reason it drifts to mind ]
[Written]
Alas, don't, but I can see if anyone else has it. Or grab a copy for future movie showings. Good movie?
[Written] switch
I'm not entirely sure if it's good or bad, it's been years since I saw it - but I know I was impressed at the time, and I think I'd like to see it again.
[Written]
Any other suggestions? Movies or music. Between you and me, [and the rest of the village since this isn't filtered at all] Evan is a complete ham and loves showing off.
[Written]
But if we're talking musicals, don't we need to include Baz Luhrmann's magnum opus?
[Written] Hope you don't mind me cutting in

[voice] haha that makes me feel a little bad for being inconsistent
[Action]
One day, maybe. Maybe after talking to some other people, comparing notes and all. She can't be the only one feeling like something is watching her, right?
But until people are ready to talk, here's a distraction. Fun, wonderful movies to delight the soul, right? Everything fun and light and no problems at all.
Ginia retrieves her tossed pen and shakes her head at Evan.]
/I'm not even surprised you know that monologue./
[Action]
Evan just smiles and laughs even as he feel something clawing at his chest. Every creak of the building has started to wake him up, remembering Taiwan and the terror and pain.
But just as Ginia isn't ready, he is far from ready to speak. So laughter and silliness it is, to cover those deepening cracks.
A wide grin is sent Ginia's way.]
I would be disappointed if you had been surprised. It is a classic, and one of the funnest scene I think. [But then again Evan has always had an odd sense of humor.]
[Action]
/Blanc knew that scene too, could be so annoying about it as a kid./
[She's not sure why she's thinking about her brother now; she hasn't thought too much about him since arriving. The occasional thought toward the beginning of every cycle, a few seconds spared to see if his face was on the list of residents. But since Evan's arrival, she's been tripping down the path of nostalgia a bit more.
It's a dangerous trip to take.]
/Another song?/ [Another change in topic.]
[Action]
[Or well, he can guess. Sort of. Depends on what she means by annoying....
BUT MOVING ON.
Evan looks thoughtful...]
Sure. What do you think would be fun to sing?
[Action]
[Video] open to both!
[As long as it's nothing too heavy--she's been edgy ever since she'd returned to the village, still unable to truly relax. Something harmless or mindless in the middle of good company would be more than welcome.]
Do you know the movie Clue?
[Kisuke had wheedled her into watching it at some point years ago. It's silly and campy enough to be fun, and given the good memories she has of watching it with her best friends, it's as good a way as any to occupy herself for a few hours.]
[Written]
Another Tim Curry classic, indeed I do. That's a fund movie, I'll add it to the list.
By the way, let me introduce you to Evan. Hold on.
[Turning away from the journal, Ginia waves her hand to catch Evan's attention.]
/Pop on the journal and say hi to Y-O-R-U-I-C-H-I. She's cool. Had my back./
[Video]
Oh look, there was the reply. Evan grins as he starts his own video reply. These journal were neat.]
Nice to meet you Yoruichi. [He even pronounces it correctly. Whee.] I am the ever charming Evan, as Ginia has already told you. I approve of your movie choice, yes I do. It's been a while since I've seen Clue.
[But it's said with a good-natured grin, as he seems the sort to be able to handle a little banter.]
But it's nice to meet you as well. New arrival?

I’ve got a perfect puzzle for you.
Oompa Loompa, do-ba-dee-dee,
If you are wise you’ll listen to me.
What do you get when you guzzle down sweets?
Eating as much as an elephant eats.
What are you at getting terribly fat?
What do you think will come of that?
I don't like the look of it
Oompa Loompa do-ba-dee-da,
Given good manners you will go far.
You will live in happiness too,
Like the oompa loompa do-ba-dee-doo.
Do-ba-dee-doo
So yeah, challenge accepted, biznatches.
[He'll just give a nod]
Also movies sound good. My vote is for Grease.
Video
Oompa Loompa do-ba-dee-doo
I have another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa do-ba-dee-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
Gum chewing's fine when it's once in a while
It stops you from smoking and brightens your smile
But it's repulsive, revolting, and wrong
Chewing and chewing all day long
The way that a cow does
Oompa Loompa do-ba-dee-da
Given good manners, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa do-ba-dee-doo
Do-ba-dee-doo
Video
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doompadee dee
If you are wise you will listen to me
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat?
Blaming the kids is a lion of shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The mother and the father!
Oompa Loompa doompadee dah
If you're not spoiled then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doompadee do
[You won't out do him in an Oompa Loompa battle]
Video
I have another puzzle for you
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-da-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
What do you get from a glut of TV?
A pain in the neck and an IQ of three
Why don't you try simply reading a book?
Or can you just not bear to look?
You'll get no...you'll get no...you'll get no commercials
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do
[Evan gives a Cheshire grin. That was the last verse that he knows. It's your move.]

He's always up for a movie night. It'll be like the times when Janine lets them play things in the rec room.]
Have you got Lord of the Rings? Although i guess that would take up most of the evening.
[Evan grins.]
That's an awesome choice, but sadly that would take up a good part of the day. Another day maybe?
[Also it's a bit dark and heavy on the war imagery which they are avoiding without saying the are avoiding.]
Well, come to the thing and catch some good movies! And I'll make note for a Lord of the Rings screening sometime later. Or maybe I can get you a copy. I'm not sure how much tech is floating around Luceti though...

How about I come by later and show you some things? I have so documentaries you might like. Movies or shows based on explaining an event in history or focusing on a topic with the intent of educating.
